The admission process at Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across Maharashtra began on June 19, 2017. This year, the state government has increased the intake considering the demand over the past few years. However, the increase in intake might still fall short due to rise in the number of applicants. Over the past two years, the enrolment figures for skill development courses have been improved by 8.02 percent. On the other hand, the state government increased the intake only by 5.9 percent in the past two years.

Deputy Director of DVET, Mr. Yogesh Patil revealed that the state government has been increasing the intake for two-year courses every alternate year. Industry experts assisted the state government in deciding the intake capacity. The student intake has been increased only for the courses that have a huge demand in the industry. There are some specific domains where the demand for the skilled workforce is high. Besides increasing intake, the state government also ensures the exact number of apprentice opportunities available, he added.
