Maharashtra: JEE & NEET Aspirants Likely to Get Separate Question Paper in Board Exams
- Class 12 students appearing for entrance exams like NEET and JEE will get a separate question paper.
- Maharashtra government is considering the proposal and it is likely to be implemented from 2019.
The state government of Maharashtra is planning to give separate board question paper for Class 12 students appearing for national-level entrance exams like National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Exam (JEE). If the proposal is approved, Class 12 students appearing for board exams in 2019 will be given choice to choose the difficulty level of the question paper. Students who will be appearing for entrance exams like NEET and JEE will get a separate question paper, and the questions will be based on the syllabus of the entrance exams.
Education Minister of Maharashtra, Mr. Vinod Tawade revealed a proposal was made in this regard and discussions will be carried out on the same. The final decision regarding separate board question paper is expected to be out in March 2018, he added.
According to the proposal, students appearing for the entrance exams will be asked to specify the same on the board exam application form. These students will get question paper that has fewer or no optional questions. The questions will be at par with the syllabus of entrance exams. Other students will get a paper with moderate to easier level and more optional questions.

Every year 5 lakh students appear for board exams in Maharashtra. Out of them, only one-lakh students apply for tougher entrance exams like JEE and NEET. Separate question paper for these students will build confidence in students. Moreover, students can prepare for both board exams and entrance exams without much difficulty.
