Maharashtra NCP Leader: Bring State Syllabus at Par with CBSE for Single Engineering Entrance Exam
Mr. Munde also indicated that implementing JEE Mains for engineering admissions without upgrading syllabus is not judicial.
Mr. Dhanajay Munde, a senior NCP leader requested the Chief Minister of Maharashtra not to implement JEE Mains examination in the state unless the state upgrades its syllabus at par with Central Board of Secondary Education.
Mr. Munde wrote a letter to Mr. David Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra pointing that the implementation of JEE Mains for the admission to engineering colleges did not get a good response from the students in 2014 and 2015. Most of the meritorious students from rural areas failed to score more marks in the national level entrance test.

He further mentioned that the students from Maharashtra are capable of scoring more marks in JEE Mains examination. However, there is a need to upgrade the state syllabus at par with Central Board of Secondary Education. Mr. Munde also indicated that implementing JEE Mains for engineering admissions without upgrading the syllabus is not judicial. Therefore, the government must reconsider its decision, he added.

The government of Maharashtra re-introduced Common Entrance Test (CET) for the admission to engineering courses in 2016. This year too, the government will follow the same. However, the state government will become a part of JEE examination from 2018. The centre’s idea is to introduce single level entrance examination for the admission to engineering courses. Only those students who have studied CBSE syllabus in Class 11 and Class 12 will get through the examination.
As a primary step, the state governments should upgrade their syllabus before implementing JEE Mains for the admission to technical institutes.
