Maharashtra: Protests Surround Medical Admissions, State CET Cell’s Chief Transferred
The deemed universities are filling up the admissions taking this chaos as an advantage.
Keeping in view the protests by the students against medical and law admissions the Government of Maharashtra has transferred the Commissioner of State CET cell. Mr. Chandra Shekar was shifted from CET cell to Election Commission Office. The admission crisis in the state has been affecting the career of the students.
At this juncture, the state has approached Supreme Court regarding a Centralized Admission Process in deemed universities. Most of the parents are worried about the fast filling of seats in these institutes.

Private medical colleges and deemed universities have run into court cases. The government has already imposed a stay on admissions in private colleges. Now, the government wants to restrict admissions to deemed universities. At this juncture, the government has also transferred the commissioner of CET. He was appointed in the month of May. The changes in admission policies this year led to chaos.
Most of the parents of medical aspirants are collecting information regarding medical admissions in the other states to help strengthen their court case against private medical institutes.

The delay in admissions is making the students nervous. They opined that fees in deemed universities are unaffordable whereas private colleges are affordable. The deemed universities are filling up the admissions taking this chaos as an advantage.
The CET Cell has allowed the students from other states to apply for medical admissions, and the students of Maharashtra are in fear that they may lose merit ranks. So, they reapplied for the medical admissions as the CET Cell did not give any clarity whether the applications are invited for other state students or local students.
