The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr. Devendra Fadnavis assured the parents that the government would protect the interest of medical aspirants across the state. A group of parents met the CM on September 10, 2016, and demanded to break the NEET admission deadlock. They pointed that the CM had assured 85% of seats in state institutes only to the students from Maharashtra.

He explained to the parents that the government is already fighting for the students on the same in the Supreme Court. The government will do its best to do best for the students of Maharashtra. He explicitly assured that 85% of seats for the students of the state would be kept aside. Some of the parents said that if the Chief Minister does not stand by them and fight for their children, they would demand his resignation.

Parents pointed out that most of their children were busy in preparing for MH-CET and did not have enough time to prepare for NEET. The parents are in constant fear that their children would lose seats in state institutes if 85% domicile rule is lifted.

The medical admissions for the private medical colleges did not commence as the decision was pending in High Court. On the other hand, the deemed universities have already issued provisional merit list where 50% of seats are allotted to the students of other states. Parents and students are nervous that the private medical colleges may also follow the same process.
