The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) for setting up a Toyota Centre of Excellence at the institute. This initiative has been undertaken by the Manipal Academy of Higher Education for the benefit of the engineering students at the institute.
The Vice-Chancellor of MAHE, Dr H. Vinod Bhat, said that the biggest advantage their students will derive from this alliance is that they will be industry-ready as soon as they graduate. The Centre of Excellence will help in bringing the academia and industry together for interactions and skill development.

Dr Bhat further added that such initiatives are of great importance for students these days because the future expectations of the industry are being talked about in the institutions today and that is bound to make a lot of difference. Upon graduating, students will find that they are already there and will have the knowledge of all that the industry demands.
The Vice President of Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Mr Naveen Soni, said that the idea of Toyota is on similar lines. TKM has detailed plans to open such centres of excellence in various institutes across the nation. The pact with MAHE is the sixth that they have made in Karnataka. He said that this concept of establishing centres of Toyota is to reiterate the commitment of the company for upscaling skill sets and providing a workforce that is ready for the automotive industry.
