Manish Sisodia: IITs are Slaves of Their Tradition and Orthodox
He demanded the government to set up separate Education Ministry at Centre.
The Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi,Mr. Manish Sisodia mentioned that the IITs are slaves of their tradition and orthodox, which are larger hindrances for the institutes to attain world class status.
He cited the example of Malavika Joshi who was deprived of getting admission in IIT as she does not have Class 10 or 12 completion certificate. Interestingly, she got admission in Massachusetts Institute of Technology, United States. He mentioned that IITs are India’s top class institutes but not world class. The reason is, these institutes are orthodox and this will not change until they wish to become scientific.

He mentioned his concern about Malavika Joshi. He said that the premier institutes in India missed a talented student.
He also stressed that the government must set up a separate Education Ministry at Centre. He stated that a student must not be considered as a resource. Currently, education falls under Ministry of Human Resource.

He also talked about the elections which are going to take place in the United States where debates are going on regarding who will be the Education and Finance Minister. The actual debate is between professors of top institutes and institutes. They are neither elected people nor bureaucrats.
