According to the Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, these high cut-offs are “anomalies” in admission process of Delhi University and as a way out, in a letter to HRD Minister Smriti Irani, he has suggested entrance tests as the way to decide a student’s eligibility to join Delhi university with extra weight for city students in government colleges.

He wrote a letter explaining the problems students currently have to suffer due to these anomalies in Delhi University with State board applicants having more marks. Moreover, the scam behind the Gujarat and Bihar toppers have also come to light and because of such practices students here are suffering. By introducing entrance exam system, students from all areas will be given equal opportunity to get admission in Delhi university.

Currently, about 300 crores are given annually to 28 Delhi University Colleges by the Government of Delhi. “So at least in these colleges, Delhi students should get weight of five marks from the current session to ensure no injustice is done to city students,” Sisodia added in his letter.
