The Uttar Pradesh Technical Education Department cancelled diploma in polytechnic first-year maths examination scheduled on May 16 after question paper was reportedly stolen from a centre in Mathura. Another packet containing question papers was found tampered and yet another set went missing from another centre in Mathura.
Earlier, first-year physics exam was cancelled after question paper got leaked and went viral on social media. Two back-to-back paper leaks left students angry worried about sanctity of the examinations. The applied maths paper was cancelled after Sushil Gupta, superintendent of the examination centre in Edify Institute of Polytechnic, Mathura, informed senior officials that an assistant centre superintendent has taken away the question papers without any information.
Principal secretary technical education Mukul Singhal confirmed reports of leak and cancellation of examination. “We have handed over the investigation to the same three-member committee constituted for investigation of the first year applied physic paper leak. The modus operandi was similar in the case of the second paper leak as it was from the same place and the same city , Mathura,“ said Singhal.
The examination staff of the two centres in question have been changed and new dates of the examination will be announced soon.
