451 BDS and 166 MBBS Seats Vacant in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana witnessed huge vacant seats in MBBS and BDS course. The final counselling process has commenced to fill up the vacant seats.
According to the final phase MBBS and BDS notification issued by NTR University of Health Sciences and Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, a total of 451 BDS and 166 MBS seats are vacant in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The list of vacant seats is available on the respective official websites of universities.
One of the major reasons for the huge number of vacant seats in the MBBS course is that several students belonging to Open Category did not confirm their admission in the MBBS course. These students are either waiting for better allotment or opted out of admission process. On the other hand, some students who were allotted seats in state-level medical counselling did not confirm the admission and participated in the AIQ counselling process.

Apart from Open Category, several students from reserved categories did not confirm their admission in the previous rounds of counselling. Some of the officials pointed out that delay in the counselling process of MBBS and BDS courses, legal issues with regard to GO 550 are some of the major reasons that forced more candidates to take admission in other states.
On the other hand, the admission process under management and NRI quota lacked clarity and created confusion among the students. Therefore, students relied on medical colleges in other states by taking part in AIQ counselling or taking admission under management or NRI quota in other states.

Both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments are planning to fill a maximum number of seats in final phase counselling.
