MD Pathology Department of KMC Loses Four Seats, Fails to Fulfil Norms of MCI
MCI has cut down four MD (pathology) course seats of KMC from the current six seats due to lack of lab facilities, equipment and tutors.
In a jolt to the state-run Kakatiya Medical College (KMC) of Telangana, Medical Council of India has cut down four MD (Pathology) course seats from the current six seats due to lack of lab facilities, equipment and tutors.

It was just one month back when over similar reasons MCI withheld permission for MBBS seats in two other medical colleges for 2017-18 batch.
These medical colleges are-
- Osmania Medical College (50 seats)
- Government Medical College, Nizamabad (100 seats)
It is alleged that state government has failed to rectify the shortcomings over the last five years. The Government was given an opportunity in April and July to solve the issues pointed out by PG medical education committee of MCI with regard to MD (pathology) course .
A senior doctor on the condition of anonymity said that both the Telangana Government and the united Andhra Pradesh Government completely failed to provide necessary equipment in the respective medical colleges.
Facilities KMC is falling short of-
- One tutor
- A Pentahead microscope (costing about INR 5 lakh)
- A central research laboratory (CRL) worth of which is INR 2 crore
Director of Medical Education, Dr. M Ramani said that they have already written to Infrastructure Development Corporation and the Telangana State Medical Services to supply necessary equipment.

The principal of KMC, Warangal, Dr. H Sandhya Rani has affirmed that already five batches of PG medicos passed out from pathology department of MD, without getting the recognition. The shortcomings have to be corrected, otherwise, the degrees of the students will not be recognised in other states and abroad. They still have time till January next year to address the matter.
