Medical Students Need Good Guidance and Training: AMC Principal
The students have to take part in theory and practical approach in an effective way to become good doctors.
Dr. SV Kumar, Principal of Andhra Medical College (AMC), retired on August 31, 2016. He served as principal for AMC for three years. Addressing the students at the retirement ceremony, he stressed that the medical students need good guidance along with clinical exposure and quality teaching which will help them to become good doctors.

He asserted that the medical students have to engage themselves continuously in the theoretical, and practical approach to learning. The future of Medicare is in their hands. The institute has excellent faculty, and the students are exposed to various aspects of learning.
Dr. SV Kumar has performed his duties exceptionally well during his term. He played a key role in solving various problems of hostel students, helped rebuild college assets that were damaged because of the Hudhud cyclone etc. He also provided new amenities and facilities to students along with reviving the old ones in a more efficient way.

The institute achieved the prestigious Labs for Life Project which was sanctioned by the Union Ministry of Health three years ago. The labs were granted to 10 medical institutes across the country, and AMC was one among them. ICMR sanctioned a Viral Research and Diagnostic Lab (VRDL) in the year 2014. The 1975 batch of the institute donated a Rs.10 lakh diesel generator set as well.
