Medical Teachers Must Follow College Timings Strictly: MCI
The teachers have to swipe their ID cards between 9.30 AM to 10.00 AM in the biometric system or else they would be considered as absent from duty.
The Medical Council of India has given a strict direction to all the teachers that they have to present in the college by 9.30 AM or 10.00 AM for their lectures. Dr. A. Niswade, Dean of Nagpur Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) explained that the new regulation by MCI would bring the desired discipline in teachers. Some of the teachers do not come to college on time, and the new system will ensure that they use the biometric system and swipe their cards to mark their attendance on time. However, there is no limit on the total number of hours a teacher should be present in the college.

The government has implemented biometric attendance not in only in medical colleges but also various universities and degree colleges.
Recently, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments have also implemented biometric attendance in all the universities and polytechnic colleges and stated that students with less than 75% of attendance would not be allowed to take the examinations. The initiative taken by the government will mandate the students to attend the classes regularly. The move has also been taken to make teachers attend the classes on time.
On the other hand, most of the parents of medical aspirants in Maharashtra are also planning to write to the Directorate of Medical Education (DMER) requesting to start an ‘’additional batch’’ for the aspirants who did not secure seats in medical colleges.
