Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs and MHRD Launch Internship Programme
HRD Ministry and the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs have launched a joint internship programme which will infuse new blood to the working of smart cities and Urban Local Bodies in the days to come.
Harshdeep Puri, the Housing and Urban Affairs minister along with the HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal “Nishank” has launched a unique internship programme called The Urban Learning Internship Programme or TULIP. Through this TULIP programme, all the fresh graduates from across the smart cities and Urban Local Bodies (ULB) will have an opportunity of getting an internship.
The Union HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal emphasised on the potential of harnessing the energy of the youth in nation-building which is in line with the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The minister was quick to identify that the TULIP programme will play a huge role in the foundation of New India. Students will gain valuable practical knowledge via this programme and in return, the students can infuse their innovative thinking and fresh ideas into the functioning of the smart cities and Urban Local Bodies.
The minister assured that India has never had a dearth of brilliance by citing the example of reputed companies like Adobe, Microsoft, Google etc who have Indian Origin CEOs or Heads.

The TULIP programme has been planned in line with the 2020-21 budget announcement made by Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, the Finance Minister of India under the “Aspirational India” theme.
AICTE and MHRD had earlier decided to create 1 crore successful internships by 2025 and the launch of the TULIP programme is expected to provide a huge boost to the fulfilment of this target.
