- MHRD officials have urged IITs to remove language barriers.
- Humanities to be used as a tool to maintain equilibrium and well-being of students.
- Language lab can also help and be a great resource for all the students to remove language barriers.
Taking into account the diverse background of students enrolled at IITs, MHRD officials have urged the IITs to use humanities as a tool to maintain equilibrium and well-being of students. The ministry urged IIT Kharagpur to expand humanities education to help students in achieving a balance.
KK Sharma, MHRD Higher Education Secretary, talked about expanding the productivity of humanities education and said that these courses can be used to remove language barriers.
Students with different native languages face difficulty in adopting the academic changes that occur in higher education. Addressing the gathering at the 67th Foundation Day of IIT Kharagpur, KK Sharma said that such students need help in adjusting to the English language used widely in higher education.
Urging the senior students to break language barriers, Sharma said that they should welcome the younger students and help them get accustomed to the language changes.

Sharma added that easing up the pressure of languages will also enhance the mental well-being of the students and reduce academic stress.
