'Shagun' App Launched by MHRD For Transparency in the Education System of India
An application called 'Shagun' has been launched by the MHRD in order to increase transparency and accountability in the education system of the country. The digital platform will enable parents to send feedback as well.
Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, the Union Cabinet Minister of the Human Resource Development, Government of India, has launched a mobile application called ‘Shagun’. The app has been created in order to bring more transparency in the education system of India and was launched by the minister on 28th August 2019, Wednesday.
‘Shagun’ is an online integrated junction comprising various educational portals. The application will provide all the particulars about the education system of the country and will also give detailed information about schools. There will also be a feedback procedure structured in the app for parents and guardians.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) issued a note in which it declared that the website will give vital information regarding the availability of schools nearby along with improved levels of transparency and accountability. ‘Shagun’ will also mention the navigable distance as well as the aerial distance between schools.

Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ addressed everyone present during the launch of the application and said that introducing a technical advancement of this kind in the educational sector was a great initiative. He said that if someone has a query or a question, it should be answered and also reiterated the capability of the concerned authorities of doing so. Pokhriyal laid emphasis on the initiatives taken by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, to bring to reality the new Bharat that he has envisioned. He said that the app ‘Shagun’ is a great way to enhance and boost education in the country. It claims to ensure better educational standards by maintaining transparency.
Pokhriyal further attributed education to be the foundation of a progressive society. He said that parents can now have all the information about the schools in which they are sending their children. Parents will also be able to send feedback to the schools if they wish. The minister then congratulated all the students and teachers for being linked on the digital platform of ‘Shagun’.

The government is constantly making alterations and revisions and introducing new methods to enhance the overall educational sector of the country. Many initiatives have been undertaken in order to improve the quality of education right from the junior classes in schools. The ‘Shagun’ app is one such example of the efforts made by the government and it is expected to benefit the students as well as the parents in many ways.
