MICA Ahmedabad Students Turned Teachers As a Part of Telav Teaching Programme

In context to the Telav Teaching Programme (TTP), over 150 first-year students of MICA, Ahmedabad , turned teachers for a duration of 3 months. The programme has been initiated by Micavaani, MICA’s community radio station and is in the third year of its implementation. As per the project, the students regularly invest their 2 hours by visiting the Telav secondary and senior secondary school and teaching Maths and English to the students of class 9th.

Yash Gupta, a junior team member of Micavaani, said that the program has been initiated since December and will continue till the month of March. The prime focus of this year’s syllabus is on Practical learning and foundational building. He further added that last year, there were some flaws regarding the program as the volunteers would go for the class on alternate days and students faced issues due to a new teacher every day. Thus, this year, the major focus is on to assigning a particular program to a student to make sure that the teaching flow is constant.

In context to this, Sri Bhargava, the senior member of Micavaani and a second-year student stated that they are experiencing a growth in the program this year. Last year, a total of 80 volunteers participated in the programme, this year has a total of 150 volunteers. The most interesting part is that the volunteers would not need to compromise on their time to teach the students as they will go to tach them early in the morning.

Sharing the experience, Raunaq Singh, a first-year student said that it was a great experience that was beyond his expectation. He further added that the experience greatly changed the way we, as a student, used to look at government schools.
