Ministry of Culture Offers Scholarships to Young Artists for Cultural Activities
A total number of 212 artists were given scholarships in the year 2014-15.
The Ministry of Culture is implementing scholarships for all the young talented artists in art & culture. The primary objective of this scholarship scheme is to encourage the professionals in culture and performing arts. The scholarships are awarded in following performing arts:-

- Indian Classical Music
- Indian Classical Dances
- Light Classical Music
- Theatre
- Visual Arts and Folk
- Traditional & Indigenous Arts
Under this scheme, 400 scholarships are given to the young artists every year. A sum of Rs. 5,000 is provided for two years. A total number of 212 artists were given scholarships in the year 2014-15. The announcement of scholarships for 2015-16 and 2016-17 has not been made. The ministry stated that there is no community-wise quota to grant scholarships.

The scholarship notification for the year 2015-16 will be announced soon. The eligibility criterion for the scholarships is given below:-
- The candidates must have a relevant degree in performing arts.
- The candidates must have a minimum of five years experience working with a guru or institute.
