The DGT division (Directorate General of Training) of the MSDE (Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship) has signed an agreement with the tech giant IBM (International Business Machines Corporation). According to the agreement, IBM will be training the teachers of ITI (Industrial Training Institute) in Basic Artificial Intelligence Skills.

This nationwide ‘Train-the-Trainer’ programme will be achieved over the course of one year. The faculty members of ITIs will be trained by 14 trainers. There will be over 200 workshops in 7 different locations to achieve the target of 10,000 fully-trained teachers. This project will be very helpful in training the faculty members to use technology in their day-to-day activities of training and teaching at the Industrial Training Institutes.

The Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey said that many such training programmes are on their way for the upcoming years. This will help in skilling the trainers with apt knowledge of modern technology. The digital skills possessed by the trainers will provide an edge to impart academic curriculum to the students. This will eventually help students in entering the workforce with the required skills for industry.

Expressing his views on the same, the Minister of State, MSDE, R K Singh stated that this programme aims at bridging the technological gap between teachers and students. This will ensure that students have industry-relevant skills and promote better retention and learning.
