Ministry of Tourism Sanctions New Tourism Colleges
The Ministry of Tourism has sanctioned permission for setting up of 12 new institutes of Hospitality Mangement in the North Eastern States.
The Ministry of Tourism has sanctioned permission for setting up of 12 new institutes of Hospitality Mangement in the North Eastern States. The ministry has taken this initiative as state governments advised the ministry to set up the colleges. The state government of Maharashtra has set up Hospitality Development and Promotion Board already. Apart from the institutes the ministry also sanctioned Hospitality Development Boards in the North Eastern states.

The following are the institutes which are granted by Ministry of Tourism:-
- Food Craft Institute is being established in Meghalaya, Sikkim, and Assam.
- Central Institute of Hotel Management has been sanctioned for Guwahati and Shillong.

The State Institute of Hotel Management is sanctioned for:-
- Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh
- Imphal, Manipur
- Aizawl, Mizoram
- Dimapur, Nagaland
- Gangtok, Sikkim
- Agartala, Tripura and
- Jorhat, Assam
