Minority Affairs Ministry has announced that providing education and employment to minorities will be their top priority in 2017. The ministry plans to bring change in the socio-economic schemes and will be working on grass root levels.

The ministry has also initiated programmes like 'Progress Panchayat' in areas that are dominated by minorities. These programmes have been started to combat the belief that minorities are ignored.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Minister of State for Minority Affairs, said that the biggest achievement of the ministry is that they have been able to take their governance from pen-computer mode to ground levels. The ministry has also introduced programmes like Hunar Haat to provide an international platform for artists who hail from minority communities.

Mr. Naqvi also informed that his ministry has been focusing on providing scholarships schemes to deserving students with the help of direct benefit transfer (DBT). Through this, they have been able to eliminate the middlemen siphoning practices. The ministry saved a lot of money that has been utilized by the ministry to help individuals who need it.

The minister informed that they have managed to plug 100 percent leakage. He further added that Rs. 6,715 crores have been given to three crore students till date.

Talking about their progress, Mr. Naqvi, said that the idea was to implement a transparent scheme which is free of leakage and promotes a pro-development economic system.

The ministry has also started a campaign named the Cashless Chaupal to introduce cashless economic system amongst minorities.
