Most of the Graduates of IIT Bombay Prefer Living in India Over Abroad
Around 84% graduates from IIT-B post-2000 settled in India. Similarly, 59% of graduates from IIT B settled in India between 1965-2000 batches.
There is a general perception that the students who pursue education in Indian Institutes of Technology aspire to secure jobs overseas. However, there has been a change in the trend in the past few years. Statistics released by Insight, a student magazine of Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay reveals that a high number of students aspiring jobs abroad is a myth.
Around 84% graduates from IIT-B post-2000 are settled in India currently. In the same way, 59% of graduates from IIT-B have settled in India between 1965-2000 batches. However, a few percent of students are employed in various countries like USA, Europe, and Middle-Eastern countries.

On the other hand, four among every five alumni live in the United States of America. As per the article released by Insight, nowadays, most of the graduates from IIT-Bombay are giving less preference to the USA.
The reason is the employability rate in India has increased, and most of the IITians are being picked by Indian companies as well as other foreign nations apart from the USA. Increase in the number of job opportunities in India especially industry based and research might be the reason for the IITians opting for job opportunities in India which is a good sign.

About 30% of alumni of IIT-Bombay are also working as civil engineers in Southwest Asia and the Middle East. These countries give emphasis to the development of infrastructure and other facilities. Similarly, most of the alumnus of IIT-Bombay are preferring to work in Mumbai rather than opting for other cities. Almost, half of the alumni are settled in Maharashtra.
