The Government of Madhya Pradesh has announced mandatory retirement of those teachers who have failed two qualification examinations and have been employed at schools that have been performing poorly for the past three years. Prabhuram Chaudhary, the School Education Minister, stated that the government will be launching NCERT Books from the next academic year to improve the quality of education in schools.

While talking to the media, Mr Chaudhary stated that the teachers employed at schools who have recorded poor performance for three years consecutively were offered training. The teachers were then asked to sit for a qualifying examination, where several of the teachers failed.

The Minister further added that the teachers who had been unsuccessful in cracking the qualifying exam were trained and allowed to sit for the qualifying examination again. The minister added that the teachers who will fail to crack the examination again will be given compulsory retirement.

Apart from the teachers who have failed the tests, compulsory retirement will also be offered to those who have either passed 50 years of age or have completed 20 years of service as a teacher.
