Mumbai University Cutoff 2021 Increases by 10-13% Points

The first-year admissions for Mumbai University have begun on 17th Aug with the release of MU first merit list. The popular colleges affiliated with MU increased their cutoff scores for this year by up to 13% points. Due to the second wave of COVID-19, CBSE along with ICSE and other state boards decided to scrap the board exams and released the Class 12 results instead using a different and unprecedented methodology.
As per the official data shared by Mumbai University colleges, the cutoff percentage for this year has increased exponentially. One of the main reasons being a massive increase of Class 12 students in the 90% Club. In fact, as per the CBSE and ISCE schools, almost 50% of the total students between 90%-95% this year. For the first time in history, a total of 46 students scored a perfect 100%. This high percentage of students scoring over 90% has caused an increase in the MU cutoff scores.

Other than the above-mentioned colleges, the commerce cutoff for Ruia College increased by 6.5% from 89.9% in 2020 to 96.4% in 2021. Once again, the courses that attracted the top scorers included BMS, BA Mass Media and Communication, B.Com in Accounting and Finance and B.Com in Banking and Insurance.
