Mumbai: Alumni Networks Support Students Appearing for Placements
Most of the students are consulting senior students who were already placed and are seeking tips on how to crack interviews.
The placement season has already commenced at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay on December 1, 2016. On the other hand, the placement season at other institutes in Mumbai is set to begin soon. Students are busy in exchanging notes on how to prepare their resumes and face interviews. They want to bring out the best resume to impress the interviewers. Most of the students are learning various techniques on how to face an interview effectively.

At this juncture, Alumni networks have emerged as the best support systems for the students who are going to attend placements. Most of the students are consulting senior students who are already placed and are seeking tips on how to crack interviews. Student interaction with seniors is clearly witnessed in Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. The outgoing students will also interact with third-year students in the month of May and give them tips to crack interviews and bag jobs.
For instance, at Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), Matunga placements began in the last week of September. The third year engineering students are clarifying their queries with the final year students, to know about the processes of interviews.

Rudraksh Sharma, a fourth-year student at VJIT, indicated that he took the suggestions from the seniors regarding how to behave in an interview and how to prepare for the written test. He also mentioned that some of the students are even referring to previous year question papers of the written tests.
On the other hand, some of the students are even pursuing short-term certificate courses to gain additional qualifications. For instance, if a student is seeking a job in data analysis, he/she pursues a course on data analysis.
Some of the students from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) are relying on strong alumni network to prepare for interviews. Students have also formed clubs to hold discussions on current affairs.
