DMER Proposes NEET Based Admissions for Ayurveda & Homeopathy Courses

Directorate Medical Education and Research has proposed to the medical education department to consider NEET based admissions for other health courses also. Currently, NEET based admissions are being conducted for MBBS/ BDS courses. However, DMER proposed that NEET admissions have to be carried out for health sciences courses like Nursing, Physiotherapy, Homoeopathy and Ayurveda. Currently, the admissions to these courses are bing carried out through Common Entrance Test (CET).

Director of DMER, Pravin Shingare mentioned that the proposal has been sent to the medical education department for consideration. He also revealed that when NEET was introduced in 2013 to MBBS/ BDS admissions, the state decided to use NEET score for other health sciences courses too.

He also said that the state government would continue the same process for the current academic session. He expressed that conducting NEET based admissions for courses like Ayurveda, Homoeopathy and other allied courses would save time and resources that would be spent on a separate CET.
