Mumbai: ITI Courses More Popular than Engineering Courses
- The demand for ITI courses is more as compared to engineering courses in the city of Mumbai.
- More than 1 lakh seats are available in ITIs for admissions while there has been a decline in the number of engineering seats in the state.
The demand for engineering courses and colleges in the metro city of Mumbai is witnessing a downward trend while the popularity of courses offered at the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) has seen a surge.
Following the increasing demand, the ITIs have introduced about 3,000 new seats taking up the total to 1.36 lakh seats up for grabs. On the other hand, the enrollment in engineering courses has declined by about 10,000 seats this year. Sources from the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET) said that the increasing demand for ITI courses is due to the increase in the scope of employment opportunities generated.
