Mumbai University Admission 2019: Marginal Rise in Cut-Offs
Colleges affiliated to Mumbai University have released their first merit list for the first year programmes that they offer. The cut-offs remain similar to that of last year’s results with a minor rise in the percentages. Students of CBSE and ICSE board make the first merit list over state board.
The first merit list of the college of Mumbai University has been released on 17th June 2019 and have displayed a minor increase in the cut-off list for 2019 admissions, when compared to the cut-off list of last year. Sources state that the students of the CBSE, as well as the ICSE board, are the majority of the applicants who have cleared the first merit list.
The cut-offs of most of the colleges of Mumbai University has been higher than 90%, especially for the commerce courses. The ICSE and CBSE students have yet again been able to achieve more than 90% in the Class 12 board examinations. However, the cut-off for commerce and management courses remain higher than the science courses.
The highest percentage obtained by an applicant at HR College, for instance, is 96% for B.Com, which is 1% higher than last year’s highest percentage. BMS at the college remains steady at 90%, meanwhile, for science and commerce subjects it is 91% and 95% respectively. The Principal of the college, Parag Thakkar, made a statement saying that the college had a cut-off of 95%> He also stated that the number of students from the state board of education has been lesser than that of CBSE and ICSE students. He added that the trend has been in motion for a couple of years now and that these students will have to wait for the second cut-off list.
Another Senior official of a college stated that the number of students opting for commerce and management courses such as Accounting and Finance as well as Management Studies has been on the rise along with B.Com. The official also added that the number of students who have been applying for the courses at the college has been more from the CBSE as well as ICSE board.

The Principle of Mithibai College, Rajpal Hande, stated that the college has introduced a B.Com (Honours) course for those students who are aspiring to pursue their Chartered Accountancy (CA) and MBA. He added that the cut-off for B.Com (Hons) has been the same as B.Com programme.

Sources state that the student will be able to complete the document verification process as well as the payment of the fees between the 18th of June 2019 and 20th June 2019. The other candidates who have not been listed will have to wait for the second as well as the third waiting list which is expected to be released on 20th and 24th June 2019 respectively.
