Mumbai University Directs Colleges to Hold Voter Awareness Drive
The awareness drive must have street plays, human chains and padayatras in the prominent locations.
With an objective to increase the voter percentage in the civic polls, Mumbai University has directed all its affiliated colleges to carry out an awareness drive on the importance of voting in the first week of February.
The awareness drive must have street plays, human chains and padayatras in the prominent locations. Similarly, the varsity directed the colleges to adopt 20 cooperative housing societies and take the help of social media to ensure that citizens and students take a pledge to vote. Currently, there are 300 colleges affiliated to Mumbai University.

For this purpose, the varsity has issued a circular to all the colleges directing them to hold an awareness drive. The varsity has directed some of the colleges in the city to hold padayatras in some of the prominent locations across the city. Every college has to organise five street plays every day and enlight the citizens to vote without fear. Colleges have to ensure that maximum number of students take part in the awareness drive.

Similarly, all the colleges need to form a group of five students, and each group will have to visit at least three houses to educate people on voting. The State Election Commission will also help the varsity to carry out the awareness drive. The main objective for taking this initiative is to increase the voting percentage from 40 to 60. Operation Black Dot, a group of like-minded activists, will also take part in the awareness drive and support the varsity's initiative.
