76 Mumbai University Exams Rescheduled due to Lok Sabha Elections

To avoid the clash with the Lok Sabha elections starting next week, Mumbai University has rescheduled most of its examinations of semesters, B.Com finals and self-financed courses. The final year B.Com papers, with the most self-financed commerce courses and 27 other papers of various examinations have been rescheduled.

6th Semester examination of BMS, B.Com (Banking and Insurance) and B.Com (Accounting and finance) examinations have been rescheduled and postponed by a few days. The B.Com sixth semester examination with some other papers examination dates are yet to be announced by the university.

Vinod Patil, the examination and evaluation board director said that they have tried to make minimal changes for the convenience of examination candidates who have been preparing.

In the month of April, 4 exam dates (11th, 18th, 23rd, and 29th April) were set to overlap with the examinations with four different phases of the elections. The government-university affiliated teachers were assigned for polling duties and many colleges were converted to polling centres in the above-mentioned dates.

The regular final examination for most self-financed courses will now begin on 2nd May instead of the previously scheduled date of 22nd April.

However, the teachers expressed their concern for this decision as they will now have to work during the summer vacations. If the examination dates were altered to be ended by 30th April, this would have been avoided. Also, some professors informed that the delay in examinations would result in late result publication which will affect the PG admissions for the session.
