Mumbai University Fails to Appoint a CoE for the Third Time

One of the premier universities of the country, Mumbai University is yet to appoint a Controller of Examinations (CoE). The post has been lying vacant since last one year.

For the third time, the university conducted the interview but failed to appoint a Controller of Examinations (CoE). A total of 10 candidates were interviewed on 5th October by a committee headed by Sanjay Deshmukh, the Vice-Chancellor of the University. But none of these candidates was selected for the post as the University did not find any of these candidates suitable for the post.

The university did not mention the reasons why they were not selected. However, the officials said Deepak Wasave, who is right now holding the post as an in-charge, will continue till the time university finds a full-time official.

The post was held by Mr. Dinesh Bonde since August 2015. The University has called for applications for the third time. Earlier the appointment process had been called off due to some confusion over the tenure of the appointee. Importantly, Maharashtra Public Universities Bill does not recognise the post. The post may be dissolved once the Bill is passed.
