Even though Mumbai University faced numerous issues due to ‘On Screen Assessment’ system, which delayed the final year results in 2017, the varsity will retain the same system for 2018 as well. The state government of Maharashtra has given a nod to continue with the on-screen assessment process. Officials were of the opinion that there was nothing wrong with the new assessment system, problems and issues arose due to irregularities in its implementation. MeritTrac, the appointed agency will continue to conduct the assessment process for the upcoming exams. A new notification will be issued inviting tenders for the appointment of the new agency.

Education Minister of Maharashtra – Mr. Vinod Tawade pointed that the problems or issues arose due to the inappropriate implementation of on-screen assessment process has been sorted out, and the same will not be repeated in 2018. The new system is expected to continue for most of the subjects. According to sources, the new system will be implemented for those subjects or exam in which more than 1,000 students appear. The entire ‘on-screen assessment process has been streamlined, he added.
Mr. Devanand Shinde was appointed as the new VC of Mumbai University recently. The new VC will take steps to announce the exam results of winter session exams 30 or 45 days as mandated by the Public Universities Act.

Mr. Balachandran, one of the former VCs of MU was of the opinion that the varsity must submit an affidavit to Bombay HC stating that it would declare the results within 45 days with the correct assessment of answer sheets.
