Mumbai University to Conduct Online Entrance Test for M.Phil and Ph.D Courses
- Mumbai University entrance exam for M.Phil and Ph.D. courses will be held once a year and the candidate's score will be valid for three years.
- The varsity has also set a time limit for M.Phil and Ph.D. candidates to complete their research work.
Mumbai University has revised its rules and regulations for admission to the M.Phil and Ph.D. courses offered by the university and its affiliated colleges. As per the revised rules, the varsity will conduct the exam in online mode for admission to M.Phil and Ph.D. courses.
Suhas Pednekar, Vice Chancellor, Mumbai University has made several changes to the admission process and exam pattern of M.Phil and Ph.D. courses. Interested candidates will have to appear in two paper i.e. Paper 1 and Paper 2. Both the papers will contain 50 objective-type multiple questions (MCQs) of 50 marks each.

The entrance exam for M.Phil and Ph.D. courses will be held once a year and the candidate's score will be valid for three years. According to the university officials, Paper 1 in the entrance exam will primarily focus on research and research patterns whereas Paper 2 will consist of questions based on candidate's post-graduation subjects.

Apart from this, the varsity has set a time limit for M.Phil and Ph.D. candidates to complete their research work. M.Phil students will be provided with a minimum of one year and a maximum of two years to complete their research. Whereas the Ph.D. students will get a minimum of three years and maximum of six years for the same.
