Mumbai University Result Delay: Activists to Launch Campaigns
- Alumni of Mumbai University will soon launch a campaign to resolve the problems faced by the students of the University.
- Activists stated that the future of students is at stake, however, the university argued that result will be declared by August 31.
Activists Anil Galgali and Anjali Damania are planning to launch a campaign against the Mumbai University for the delay in the declaration of results. The activists have also asked the High Court to start a judicial inquiry and find out what has led to this delay in the announcement of result.
Damania talked about the matter and said that the people responsible for the delay in results should be penalised by the court for jeopardising the career and future of lakhs of students. With the delay in results, many students enrolled in Mumbai University are facing the fear of losing a year.
She also added that the Education Minister of the State Vinod Tawde and Vice-Chancellor Sanjay Deshmukh are responsible for the delay. Anjali – an alumina of the Mumbai University – said that she will gather other prominent alumni in order to solve the problems faced by students.
The University has informed the Bombay High Court that the results will be announced on August 31. The legal representative of the university, Rui Rodrigues, also informed that results of all streams including integrated courses, apart from the distance learning courses, will be announced on August 31.
While hearing several petitions filed by the students of the Mumbai University, the Court discovered that the delay in result has been caused due to technical problems. Rodrigues, added that the university is taking the initiatives to ensure that the students don’t have to waste a year.

Special help desks have been set up by the University to ensure that students who have applied for abroad universities don’t lose their seats. In some cases, the mark sheets have been sent directly to the university in question to confirm the admission of the respective student.
After relieving MA Khan from the post on Mumbai University Registrar, the State Government has named VN Magare, Principal of Kirti College, Dadar, the Acting Registrar of the University. The step has been taken to ensure that the results are announced as soon as possible.
The new permanent Registrar will be appointed in a duration of three months. The university is now in the hands of acting officials as the Vice Chancellor Sanjay Deshmukh is on forced leave. Devanand Shinde has been appointed as the acting VC and Dhiren Patel as acting Pro-VC.

Asking the university to declare the results as soon as possible, the court said that it must be ensured that the results are not delayed in the future. The court added that after August 31, the Mumbai University will be liable to release the result and explain what went wrong.
