Mumbai University Signs MoUs with 3 Israeli Universities for Research Collaboration
Mumbai University has come up with foreign academic collaboration so as to provide better research opportunities and exposures to the students of the University.
One of the oldest Universities of the country, Mumbai University has come up with foreign academic collaboration so as to provide better research opportunities and exposures to the students of the University.

Recently the University has joined hands with three Israeli Universities for academic collaboration and excellence. For this Mumbai University has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). These three Universities are-
- Ben-Gurion University of the Negev
- Hebrew University of Jerusalem
- University of Haifa
Under the provisions of the MoUs, now students can avail research facilities at both the Universities and pursue joint Ph.D degrees and they have to work for a minimum time period with their guides. After the completion of their research period, they can obtain degrees from the parental and the host university they had studied at. Under this collaboration, Mumbai University has signed two MoU with Ben Gurion University.
Besides that the other MoUs with the three universities entitled the students and faculty members to attend conferences and seminars at Mumbai University and the Israeli Universities.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in presence of dignitaries of both the countries. Present on the occasion were -
- Reuven Rivlin, President of Israel
- Prakash Javdekar, Union Minister for Human Resource Development
- Dr. Ved Prakash, UGC Chairman
About Mumbai University:
Mumbai University was established in 1857 by the British Government modelled under the similar universities in the United Kingdom, specifically the University of London.The first degrees awarded in 1862 were Bachelor of Arts and Licentiate in Medicine. At the beginning, the Town Hall in Mumbai was used as the university's administrative office. When India achieved independence in 1947, the functions and power of Mumbai University were re-organised under the Bombay University Act of 1953. In 1996, the name of the University was changed from University of Bombay to University of Mumbai.
