One of the premier centre of higher educations, University of Mumbai to introduce three skill-based certificate courses in association with the National Skill Development Mission from November next month.

The programme aimed at building industrial skills among the youth especially those hailing from economically weaker sections of society. In this noble mission, the university is helped by the American India Foundation. And for that, the university has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AIF to start the courses.

These courses will be offered in the following domains:

  • Store Operations
  • Software Testing
  • Paint Chemistry

Mumbai University has always been in the limelight while providing innovative and progressive education to its students. Over the last 156 years of its existence, the University has always given its best to the Country in general and Mumbai city in particular. The University has two campuses of areas 243 acres and 14 acres at Vidyanagari and Fort respectively.

The University has its sub-campuses and centres at Ratnagiri, Kalyan and Thane. The university has 60 departments & institutes and 749 affiliated colleges. The University has established its name in industrial & international collaborations and has been running various professional courses.

More information about the courses:

  • Initial batch will include 40 students
  • Courses will be of six-month duration
  • Courses will be held twice a year
  • Fee of the course will be Rs 2,000 for six months

The American India Foundation, a nonprofit American organisation devoted to accelerating social as well as the economic change in India. It has partnered with 227 of India’s NGOs to build a trusted network for implementation and sustainability while raising million of funds since its inception in 2001. It was founded by a group of Indian-Americans aftermath of Gujarat earthquake. Former US President Bill Clinton serves as the Honorary Chair and the foundation has been involved in a variety of development work in India. It will provide financial support to students and the courses will be held at Mumbai University’s Garware Institute.
