These decisions were taken on Thursday at the academic council meeting in the University of Mumbai. As the changes will be applicable from the next academic year, the university will start workshops in the coming weeks for the faculties to tackle and get used to these changes.

Confirming the same, M.A. Khan, the registrar of Mumbai University revealed that the students in B.Sc (second year) will now be allowed to select any one of the three elective subjects from a course apart from their core subject. According to this change, a physics student may choose a subject from Computer Science course and vice-versa. Also, the third year B.Sc students will be able to take up project work of their own choice.

Vijay Joshi, the dean of Science and Technology in Mumbai University informed that students who are enrolled in courses like Zoology will have the choice to opt for an applied component for their course.

Last year, the university introduced CBCS for the first semester PG and UG courses. CBCS was introduced with an aim to improve the courses in the coming years.
