Nagpur: Only 9% Vacant Seats in MBA While Engineering, Polytechnic Admissions Dip Further
The figure of confirmed admissions in engineering and polytechnic courses offered in Nagpur are constantly dipping while the demand for MBA courses is on the rise.
There has been a constant dip in the number of takers for polytechnic and engineering courses in Nagpur. The admissions scenario for these programmes has deteriorated over the years. And most of the seats have remained vacant for the academic session 2018-19 as well. On the other hand, the number of takers for MBA courses seems to be increasing year after year.
In polytechnic courses, only 34% seats have been occupied and the number of seats that have gone vacant is 11,177. In engineering, the figure of vacant seats is 9056 with only 54% confirmed admissions.

On the contrary, the admissions for MBA programmes have brought some good news as the figure of vacancies remained at just 9%. The improvement in MBA admissions has been witnessed for the second consecutive year. In 2017, only 6% MBA seats were vacant in the Nagpur region.
Only 1,770 seats were occupied out of the total 5,100 MBA seats in Nagpur in the year 2013.
The Master of Computer Applications (MCA) is another course, which has shown some disappointing figures. Over 60% seats have remained vacant. Out of the total 1146 seats, 765 seats have gone vacant with only 381 confirmed admissions.

Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) conducted the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) for 10 professional courses through the State CET cell. Among the 10 programmes, the one with the least number of vacancies is Diploma in Pharmacy, in which 2132 seats have been occupied out of the total intake of 2143.
