National Law University Students’ Protest

Students of National Law University have decided to continue protesting against massive administrative failure and demanding refund of fees exorbitantly charged without providing the facilities by the administration.

A five-member committee of the students went ahead to meet the Chief Justice Of The Gauhati High Court who happens to be the Chancellor of the University. No confirmed date has been given to the students for a meeting between them and the Chancellor for addressing their grievances.

The reason behind this agitation amongst the students is due to the lack of concern shown by the university authorities despite the peaceful appeals regarding the high fees charged in lieu of the services that have never been rendered. In addition, the students also said that despite repeated requests, the speedy construction of its permanent building has been neglected. The college is currently operating from a temporary campus at Ulubari.

It is alleged that the students of the university are charged hefty amounts of fees for the facilities, although both the Central and the State Governments have contributed more than Rs 300 crore for the construction of a permanent campus.

The students also demanded an audience with the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court in an open-house discussion to make him aware of the situation as well as to seek relief from the current issues.
