Discussing the incidents that took place in the name of following the dress code for NEET 2017 exam, the Kerala assembly has decided to take action against the same. During the assembly meeting conducted on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, the members termed removal of ornaments, footwear and clothes as harassment and condemned the incidents.

Chief Minister of the state Pinarayi Vijayan said that he will discuss the matter with the Centre. The minister has also asked the police to investigate the matter.

Earlier, CBSE had released a list of Dos and Don’t to ensure that students follow the guidelines of the exam. The list clearly mentioned that dark clothes, long sleeve tops and jewellery are not allowed in the exam centres.

Despite the notice, various students failed to comply with the rules and were asked to remove head scarves, nose-pins and were also asked to cut sleeves of their tops. According to reports, a girl in Kannur was made to remove her top innerwear when the detector beeped due to metal ornaments.

The CM added that this matter will be examined legally as a case has been filed. A female police official has also been asked to meet the girl’s family. It was also reported that the student had to arrange a new set of clothes in order to appear for the examination that caused undue pressure.
