NEET Chemistry Previous Years’ Difficulty Level

Though it may not be unanimous, there are some questions in the paper that are considered difficult whereas some are considered easy by many. The data below shows a pattern in the difficulty levels of questions that would help candidates understand the paper pattern better. 

Most Asked Questions/ Topics in NEET Chemistry Old Papers

According to the previous years’ analysis of the question paper:

  • Most of the questions are asked based on the fundamentals discussed in Class XII, XI NCERT textbooks. 

  • Statement based questions are asked. 

  • Usually, questions from Organic Chemistry (Class XI) and Inorganic Chemistry (Class XII) are considered difficult. 

  • Topics that are asked the most include Organic Chemistry (XII), Inorganic Chemistry (XII), Inorganic Chemistry (XI) and Physical Chemistry (XII). 

  • As per the 2021 question papers, chapters with the highest number of questions were Chemical Bonding, Hydrocarbons, p-Block Elements, Carbonyl Compound, Solutions, Chemical Kinetics, Electrochemistry, Metallurgy, d and f-Block Elements, etc.

NEET 2022 Chemistry Expected Difficulty Level & Important Topics

  • The overall difficulty level of the question paper is expected to be moderate to easy. 

  • Most of the questions will be asked from Class XII and XI NCERT textbooks. 

  • It is expected that simple topics-based questions will be asked making it a scoring section.

All in all, the Chemistry section of the NEET question paper is usually easy and somewhat lengthy. Questions are usually based on figures, facts and NCERT textbook tables. Sometimes, the paper also contains quite a lot of numerical based questions.
