NEET 2022 Postponement: Amid the uproar of demands of NEET UG Postponement, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has made no statement to acknowledge the problems faced by lakhs of students, let alone take any action. Students have now knocked on the doors of the Delhi High Court to seek the deferment of the national medical entrance examination.

Advocate Mamata Sharma has taken a stand for students and listed the postponement matter under urgent hearing on July 13, 2022. The plea, which has been mentioned before the division bench consisting of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad, will be heard on Thursday, July 14, 2022.

As the exam is scheduled just a few days later on the upcoming Sunday, July 17, 2022, this fresh petition filed by Advocate Sharma also seeks the conduct of Phase II for NEET 2022. The reason quoted here is the dire flood situation in several parts of the country. It has also been mentioned that the examination centre distance for thousands of students ranges between 150 to 300 kilometres which, in the flood-stricken parts, may lead to the students missing their examination and thus resulting in a year drop.

The petition also asks the NTA authorities to issue a fresh notification rescheduling NEET UG 2022 dates while taking into consideration the major grievances raised by the students in previous representations, including the 19-page-long memorandum submitted to the Education Ministry on July 08.

“This Honourable Court may graciously be pleased to issue any writ/directions in the nature of Certiorari of Mandamus directing the respondents to set aside the examination schedule for July 17 of the NEET-UG 2022 examination as mentioned in the notification dated April 6, 2022, issued by respondent no. 1/national testing agency," the plea reads. “Direct the respondents to issue a fresh notification rescheduling date of NEET- UG 2022 examination after considering the grievances raised by the petitioners by way of written representations dated May 12, 2022, and July 8, 2022.”

Aside from this, a proper complaint redressal mechanism has also been sought which demands all the complaints raised by the students to be solved within a time-bound manner.

For now, NEET UG 2022 has been scheduled on July 17 and NEET 2022 Admit Card has been released on July 12. The latest postponement petition will be heard on July 14, 2022.
