NEET 2018 to Have Common Question Paper in All Languages
- CBSE informed Supreme Court that NEET-UG 2018 will have uniform question paper across all the languages.
- The board will prepare the NEET question paper in English, and the same will be translated to Hindi and other regional languages.
Starting from this year, NEET-UG examination will have uniform question paper across all the regional languages along with Hindi and English. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conveyed the information pertaining to the same was provided to the Supreme Court of India last week. The Lawyer for the CBSE informed the apex court that the board would prepare the NEET question paper in English, and the same will be translated to Hindi and other regional languages to maintain uniformity in the NEET Exam pattern and difficulty level.
Last year, NEET was conducted in ten languages, and over 1.2 million students took the exam. Controversies surrounded the national medical entrance test, as CBSE failed to prepare uniform question paper in all the languages. Students who took the entrance exam in Gujarati and Bengali felt that the paper was tougher than English and Hindi question paper. In states like Tamil Nadu, a few CBSE students claimed that the regional language question paper was easier than English.

This year, the question paper in vernacular languages will have an English translation so that there would be no confusion. Chief Justice of India, Mr. Arun Mishra took the CBSE affidavit on the record and disposed of the petition.
Last year, CBSE informed the apex court that different question papers were prepared to avoid question paper leak. However, the Supreme Court did not agree with the argument of CBSE. Instead, the court directed the board to take steps for preventing question paper leak.

While filling the online application form for NEET-UG 2018, students will have to choose the language carefully. CBSE will provide the question paper in the language that applicants have chosen.
