NEET Counselling 2019: Protest Over 705 Vacant Medical Seats in Rajasthan
More than 700 Medical seats are vacant in Rajasthan after the second round of NEET-UG counselling, leading to a protest by the candidates and their parents.
The second round of NEET-UG counselling 2019 came to an end at Rajasthan leaving students and parents disheartened by the carelessness of the officials. According to reports, about 705 seats are vacant in Public and Private medical colleges of Rajasthan after round 2 of NEET counselling. Parents and students are affirming that because of irresponsible authorities, students with lower NEET score managed to get better seats in comparison to those with higher NEET score.
Parents and students became outrageous and protested against the NEET counselling authorities outside the SMS Hospital. Protesters also tried to block the JLN Marg. Some parents reached Civil Lines at the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s residence to protest, however, due to high security, they were dispersed immediately from the site. Deputy Cheif Minister Sachin Pilot also witnessed resistance of the people for the same. A few candidates have threatened the authorities on taking the matter to courts.

According to students, this is the first time when 700+ seats are vacant including the government, NRI and Management seats, after the second counselling of NEET-UG, last year only three seats were left after the second counselling process ended. Also, more than 600 seats are vacant for BDS.
The first round of NEET-UG 2019 Counselling held on 26th July 2019 and the round 2 was scheduled on 27th July 2019 but got postponed to the 1st of August, due to the shifting of dates, many candidates took admission in outer states medical colleges due to which the seats were blocked and were put directly in the mop-up round.
It is now upon the authorities to speak in the matter and settle doubts of the affected students and their families.
