NEET 2020 Mandatory for the Admission to AYUSH Courses
NEET 2020 score has been made mandatory for the admission to UG AYUSH courses.
Students aspiring for admission UG AYUSH courses from the next academic session (2020-21) will have to clear NEET as the NEET score is mandatory to be eligible for the admission.
Punjab, Haryana High Court makes NEET 2020 Exam Mandatory for AYUSH Courses
Punjab and Haryana High Court have made NEET 2020 exam mandatory for admission to AYUSH courses. NEET 2020 Is mandatory for admission to a bachelor's degree in Ayurvedic Medicine, Unani Medicine and Homeopathic medicine in the state of Haryana and Punjab. The High Court has also stated that all the admissions will be considered invalid for all the candidates who do not qualify NEET for admission to BAMS, BHMS and BUMS course.
Currently, the ministry is in talks with CBSE to conduct the NEET exam for AYUSH courses. The ministry felt that it would be easy for the aspirants if CBSE conducts the examination. Over 36,000 seats are available in undergraduate AYUSH courses across the country. So far, state universities have been conducting separate entrance exam for the admission to AYUSH courses. With a motive to standardise the admission process and attract meritorious students, the government has decided to hold NEET for AYUSH courses.

The Ministry of AYUSH is in plans to set up All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in five cities across the country. However, the ministry is yet to confirm the locations for setting up AIIA. The ministry had sought funds from the central government to set up AIIA in five cities apart from New Delhi.
With a growing demand for AYUSH courses in India, more institutes are needed. AIIA will play a vital role in promoting research in different fields of AYUSH. During the academic session 2016-17, the government had approved 46 AYUSH medical colleges across the country.
