A writ petition was filed in the Supreme Court on 25 January 2022 to defer the NEET PG 2022 examination which will happen on 12 March 2022 as declared by the National Board of Examination (NBE). Now, it is scheduled by the NBE to be conducted on 21 May 2022 and the last date to register has been extended to 25 March 2022. NEET PG is 3.5 hours conducted online comprising of 200 questions.

Why Demand NEET PG 2022 postponement?

According to the NEET PG 2022 Eligibility Rules, a candidate must have completed the mandatory period of internship to appear in the exam. The petitioners have stated that hundreds of NEET Post Graduate 2022 aspirants have become ineligible as they were not able to complete their internship owing to the pandemic.

What The six petitioners have urged the Supreme Court to defer the examination until these candidates have not completed their internships to become eligible for the exam. Most of the doctors were serving their COVID-19 duties and hence could not commit their time to internships.

Earlier, the Prime Minister also stated that the NEET PG 2022 schedule must be postponed and doctors shall not be penalised for serving the nation in unprecedented times.

5. Supreme Court to resume hearing on 8 February- Internship Deadline Issue

The PIL challenging the NEET (PG) 2022 Exam is listed for 8 February 2022 now. The court will continue to hear the matter and hopefully, the issue will be concluded finally. The hearing will be continued on the issue of extending the deadline of the internship. The court in its previous order upheld the inclusion of reservation in the AIQ quota.

4. Letter of Health Ministry postponing Post Graduate Medical exam

The Ministry of Health sent a letter to NBE to communicate that the NEET PG exam date has been changed by 6-8 weeks. This has been done in the light of various requests received by the MoH as the exam was clashing with NEET PG 2021 Counselling dates.

3. Supreme Court deferred NEET PG 2022 exam

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test has been postponed for 6-8 Weeks. It was earlier scheduled to be held on 12 March 2022. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is responsible for presiding over the NEET PG entrance exam.

The Supreme Court of India heard the plea challenging National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG on Friday, 4 Feb 2022. It was scheduled to be listed on 7 February 2022 earlier.
