NEET-PG: Telangana Gets 27 PG Medical Seats
- Government medical colleges in Telangana have secured permission from MCI to offer 27 post-graduate medical seats.
- At present, State-run teaching hospitals including Osmania and Gandhi in Hyderabad and Kakatiya Medical College in Warangal offer 677 PG medical seats.
For the first time, government medical colleges in Telangana have secured permission from MCI (Medical Council of India) to offer 27 PG medical seats in one go. MCI has officially approved the additional 27 seats and an official notification on the same was sent to the state government on March 06, 2018.

The total number of PG medical seats across government and private medical colleges across Telangana is 1,477. At present, government medical colleges including Gandhi Medical College, Osmania Medical College and Kakatiya Medical College offer 677 seats in PG medical courses. Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences offers 72 PG medical seats.
Apart from the above-mentioned PG seats offered by government medical colleges, private medical colleges offer 728 PG and diploma seats. However, 50% (328) of seats in private medical colleges are available in convenor quota. The rest of the 50% of seats come under management quota of private PG medical colleges.

On March 02, 2018, Health Minister of Telangana, Mr. Lakshma Reddy conducted a review meeting on NEET-based admission process for PG medical courses. He assured that the admission process will be conducted in a fair manner.
