NEET Score Mandatory for BASLP Course of NISH
NEET is mandatory for candidates seeking admission into the Bachelor of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (BASLP) programme, beginning from next academic session 2017-18
Candidates seeking admission into the Bachelor of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (BASLP) programme, beginning from next academic session 2017-18, to be conducted by National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH), will have to take National-Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) as NISH has decided to use the scores of NEET exam.

The rank list of the candidates will be prepared on the basis of the score they get in NEET. NISH has been functioning from 1997 from Thiruvananthapuram and is an autonomous body running under Department of Social Justice, Kerala Government.
Over the years, the institute has been involved in providing dedicated services to people who have any type of communication disorder. It focuses on the following areas:
- Identification of hearing impaired people
- Rehabilitation
- Education of individuals
The institute has been relentlessly implementing various programmes for the people who are differently abled with respect to hearing. It has been able to bring changes by improving the quality of their lives. The course prepares the students as complete professionals to work as speech therapists and audiologists.
Aspiring candidates seeking admission for the course must clear their 12th exam or equivalent examination from a recognised government board and must have a minimum of 50 percent marks. For candidates hailing from SC/ ST and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories, only passing marks will be considered.
Applicants must have chemistry, optional physics and biology in their 12th standard with optional subjects like computer science mathematics/ statistics/ psychology/ electronics.

The admissions for next academic session 2017-18 will open from last week of May. Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) has accredited NISH as an “Excellent Institution”. The institute has been running BASLP course since 2002 under the approval of RCI.
