NEET-UG 2017: CBSE Adds 23 New Exam Cities

An official update from Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) indicated that a total number of 23 new examination cities have been added for NEET-UG 2017 examination that will take place on May 7, 2017. Now, NEET-UG 2017 examination for the admission to MBBS/ BDS courses will be conducted in 103 cities.

One of the officials of CBSE explained that the number of students applied for NEET-UG 2017 is high. As per sources, around 11 lakh students have applied for the examination and CBSE has decided to increase the test centres as the number of students appearing for the examination is high compared to the previous year. Centre’s decision to make NEET mandatory in all the states for UG medical courses is the reason for more number of applicants this year.

The Ministry of Human Resource and Development further indicated that the candidates who have applied for NEET-UG 2017 have the option to change the examination centre. The examination will be held in 2,200 institutions across the country based on the infrastructure, reliability and credibility in these centres. The candidates have to just log in to the official website of NEET and can change the examination centre.

As per the report of CBSE, a total number of four test centres have been added in Karnataka and Maharashtra each, Three from Tamil Nadu and Gujarat each, two from Kerala, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and one city each from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Punjab.

Last year, around 8.02 lakh students appeared for NEET-UG examination and there has been an increase of 41% in the number of applicants this year.
