NEET-UG 2017: Online Counselling in Punjab to Begin from July 17
- This year, there are 975 MBBS and 1,030 BDS seats in various medical and dental colleges across the state.

Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Punjab has released the admission schedule for MBBS and BDS courses. According to the schedule, the online counselling process will begin from July 17, 2017. MBBS and BDS seats in various medical and dental colleges across the state will be filled based on NEET-UG 2017 merit. This year, there are 975 MBBS and 1,030 BDS seats in various medical and dental colleges across the state.
The online application process will begin on July 11, 2017, and the candidates who have qualified NEET-UG 2017 can fill the online application. The varsity has updated the prospectus on the official website.

After the submission of online application, the candidates have to download the challan. The candidates have to visit nearest State Bank of India or Oriental Bank of Commerce to deposit the processing or counselling fee. Candidates belonging to SC category have to deposit Rs. 2,500, and General candidates must deposit Rs. 5,000. July 21, 2017, is the deadline for the candidates to complete the registration process, fee payment and exercising the options. The first round seat allotment status will be declared on July 21, 2017.

Candidates seeking admission under NRI Quota can fill the online application by August 1, 2017. The state government reserves 15% of seats for NRIs.
The second round counselling will begin from August 8, 2017, and will continue until August 13, 2017.

The High Court of Punjab and Haryana also clarified that the candidates must have attained at least 17 years of age to take part in the medical admission process. Earlier, a plea was filed on behalf of his minor son challenging the age criterion to participate in NEET. The petitioner further claimed that Indian Medical Council Act of 1956 had not prescribed any such limit. His son will turn 17 in February 2018.
Earlier, the court allowed Kuldeep Singh, son of plea applicant to fill the application form for NEET-UG 2017. However, the court has now dismissed the plea while giving clarity on the age limit.
